Truth or Dare

No, not the game you played when you were 12+,  but the ability to sort through your life and
expose yourself, your talents, and the dance of moving forward.   It is almost November, how did that happen...It is confusing where I live.  Yes, the leaves are changing color; today is a gray, blustery kind of day. It is going to reach the high of 82 here, showers are on and off.  " Oh, bother"... A Pooh, kind of day! As  I search for my honey, the sweetness in my life, I am struggling with the fact, maybe my work looks to much like other artists  I admire.  I am struggling to find my voice.  Do you wonder, when you read a certain author, does their voice carry over,  into your work?   Are we a blender of ideas?

We gather and witness the everyday and we conjure up our own magic through our gray matter.  Sounds
bewitching doesn't it.  The true is do we dare to continue when we think our voice might not be our own. Won't our voice come through, if we do continue to create, write, paint, whatever your passion and outlets are?  Do we dare believe that we have what it takes and in doing so find our truth, our voice, our passion.  We all have our unique voice, but do we have the courage to continue, to dare to dream.  In the world of Christopher Robin, Pooh and Piglet and friends, we  have to find our own dangling carrots and honey. WE have to continue on in our "Hundred Acres Words" hoping to find our truth and talents.  If we don't put it out there, WE won't ever know....

It might take awhile to reveal our vision, our view, but eventually the paint will be stripped away and the reality of you, will shine through.  In the words of Pooh, Piglet and Tigger, "O, bother,  oh, dear, dearie me and TTFN-Ta, Ta for Now".   And let's not forget Eeyore, "Thanks for noticin' me"~

I dared, but I don't know how unique it was...

Ellen this is a beautiful post! You are a talented writer. Thank you for visiting my blog. You are the second person who mentioned Stampington's call for recipe cards to me. This post speaks to me tonight because although I did not make them for a challenge, I did bravely package them today to send! Thank goodness I didn't know about the call/challenge or it might have interfered with my creative process and letting my own "voice" shine through. "Thanks for noticing me!" Take care and so nice to meet you. I"m a new follower.

Truly well written, and I love the accompanying photos!
magical :)
it's the struggle of every writer I think -- to write only what they can write. It takes courage.
The photos are gorgeous.

Wonderful post, Ellie, and your voice IS most definitely your own and will only become more so, as you continue. I, too, find myself influenced by other writers. But my way of seeing - and your way of seeing - remain uniquely ours..........I love watching your emergence as a writer, and your photography is wonderful as well. Yay! Keep shining!

I can so relate to "trying to find my voice"...It is so easy to undermine ourselves and our talent when we compare ourselves and our works to others.

Thanks for sharing a lovely post...
Ellie - I totally notice you. =D And, the best way to find our voice is to write, write, write. This was such a great post for many reasons.

I LOVE Pooh and friends. The reason why, is: at some point I can relate to all of them. Each character is me, at different times in my life (or even day).

The trick, when we write, is letting our voice shine through in each character. xoxo

Ellie, I've had a sweet spot for Pooh and friends for years. I do think our voice is often a symphony with fellow sojourners in life but we each have uniqueness in tone that makes our voice distinct even when saying the same thing. And the world is enhanced when we're brave enough to use our own voice.

When you write so beautifully, and have such gorgeous photographs, I can barely focus on what you say.
But yes, Truth and Dare is a good game to play. I will tomorrow, when I have to take a really long drive.

courage is everything.
And when it comes to Autumn leaves, I've just gathered two sacks of dry leaves from my yard. Autumn always gives me so much physical work :))

I think your voice comes through FINE--both in your words and your photos--I can see you in them and they're lovely. I think the trick is just doing A LOT of whatever your art is. You stop filtering and become ultimately YOU. For writers, I hear the benchmark of a million words to find your voice. I am willing to buy that, though I think words count besides just formally written stuff. I know my blog helped me solidify my writing voice.

Your lovely photographs and thoughtful words are an intoxifying combination! I think the more we continue the more we find our voice and the pictures in our hearts.

Ella......I like that....... I do so admire the way you write and you most certainly have a talent, so don't stop painting pictures with your words. I also enjoyed the photographs. xx susan

Wonderful Ella
I think that it is an evolutionary process to find our voice.. our look.. How will we find it if we don't keep experimenting and trying!! If that means we 'sound' like someone else well I think it is just trying new techniques.. not intentional... I'm sure your lovely style is your own...

Have a fabulous week .. xxx Julie
