G is for Ghost Hunters

I use to watch Ghost Hunters, then it kind of became repetitive, to me. Wednesday night it was on and the team went to Maine. A haunt, I use to frequent when I was in high school. Groups of kids would meet and we pair off into teams, think flashlight tag. We would play hide n' seek in this spooky, cold, granite fort. The appearance is ominous, it is damp, dark with narrow passage ways, long corridors, tiny stair cases, long alley ways, and lots of nook n' crannies. Their investigation was at Fort Knox;  No this isn't the one with all the gold. It is one of the best preserved forts on the New England coast. "Fort Knox was built to avoid a British invasion that was expected during the mid-19th century. But this invasion never came.. There were periods of military activity at Fort Knox. During the Civil War from 1863 to 1866, troops were stationed at Fort Knox."

I remember one summer night, my friend wanted to leave after one round. She was really spooked, she heard stomping and felt a presence. We all thought her imagination had run wild, but we ended the evening early. She did seem shaken. I only went a few times; it later was chained and roped off, so we couldn't get in. We went home a couple of summers ago and took our kids. Our son remembered going before; our daughter was too young. My son remembers hearing someone walking and someone throwing rocks.  They mentioned on the show, others recalling similar incidents.

It was fun to watch the show;  Josh n' Grant and their team did a great job. They actually want to go back. It was bitter, cold and snowing. They did record heavy breathing and their were lasers that show something blocked the beam. They did conclude, there is paranormal activity.

"At least one psychic has confirmed the existence of spirits in the fort. Some have suggested the spirits are those of a solider who had strong ties to the fort, such as Sgt. Leopold Hegyi, who served there for 13 years and died in the house where he lived across the road from the fort. In addition to many unexplained experiences, visitors, over the years, perhaps sensing something in the fort, have asked guides about the possibility that the place is haunted. The Friends organization helps to bolster that idea of ghosts with its annual Psychic and Paranormal Fair and the Fright at the Fort celebration at Halloween in which real-life spooks haunt the dank and dark alleys inside the fort" ~Leon Seymour~Executive Director "Friends of Fort Knox".

Have you ever seen or heard anything that makes you wonder?  Do you believe in ghosts?

I don't believe in ghosts, but Ghost Hunters came to the Carolinas a few years ago and went through the Battleship.

Hi Alex-I think I saw that one; It was interesting. An old, creaky ship! This place exudes spooky as does an old ship. Thanks for sharing~

I like Ghost hunters on occasion. I also like Paranormal State, even though the main guy's voice gets on my nerves.

I had a horrible experience as a kid with a ghost (if that's what you call it) that told me it was an angel and tried to get me to jump out of my bedroom window when I was almost 5 years old. I hated that house and my room was where I saw the most activity. =)

I found that show repetitive too.
About believing or not, I keep an open mind.
I feel a precence in the place I live, and have written about it before, It's an old house but at times it's quite eerrie.
Loved your post about Ghosthunters
Yvonne.
I remember this show.
I believe in spirits but not ghosts as presented in the media.

I remember liking this show. I have no problem believing there are spirits around us!

I don't know one way or the other on ghosts. My friend swears that the local cinema is haunted though. The Ghost Hunters have been to the Mount Washington Valley twice now so I guess there's something around that keeps bringing them back.

I am a skeptic. I have always been a skeptic. But two summers ago, my older son and I were outside. There was a distinct rap on the window (rap, rap, rap). He and I both stood up. No one was there. I went inside, checked out the house. No one. I checked the back door. No one. My son thought maybe it was a bird, but that was impossible. Birds don't make fist-type, human raps on windows. It still sits with me today b/c it is totally unexplained. So now...maybe.

We have places like that here on the west coast... so fun, but so creepy at the same time.

Once in college I distinctly remember laying in bed and waking up to what looked like a see-through blue outlined young lady in the doorway that lead to my bathroom (I was a sophomore RA so I had a single with an adjoining bathroom) I just laid there and stared, and blinked, and though... cah-ra-zee! And finally pulled the covers over my head and said "go away!" There are stories of a girl who died in the old music building which was the admissions office at the time an just across the street from my dorm but who knows!?! Could have just been a sleep deprived college student too.

As babies, my kids have always had a tendency to gaze into the same corners of our home (we live in the home that my great grandparents built) and they smile and laugh. No one has died in this house but it's always seemed like such a happy presence for them. More cool than creepy there.

Visiting from the A-Z Challenge and what a cool post to come in on!

I'm not sure if I believe in "ghosts" as they're portrayed in media, but part of me is open to the idea of spirits. Or a presence. It's a very blurry line, one that's difficult to figure out, but I guess that's where I stand!

I believe in spirits as I've had some experiences that may be considered paranormal. I do enjoy a good ghost story!

I believe in ghosts and yet, I'm very grateful I've never seen one.
I do believe in ghosts... but I don't think I have the right "intuition" to sense when they're around. My grandmother did, though, it scared us!

How fun! I love ghost stories like this. I don't actually believe in them. I know! But there have been *odd* things happen to me before that were hard to explain.

Regardless, I love hearing and telling about stuff like this~ :o) <3
I definitely believe in ghosts, or spirits of the dead. My N day post deals with this in a lighthearted way.
Spooky and interesting. Great post

I have watched Ghost Hunters once in a while. Sometimes what they discover makes me wonder. I'm not sure about where I stand when it comes to ghosts though.

Very interesting post for "G".

Thank you everyone for sharing your experience, views and stories. I really enjoyed hearing what YOU thought~ I have had an odd day, no ghosts involved. Hubby came home had 1/2 a day, we went and did errands, then surprise company. I hope to catch up this weekend and visit and meet more of you! What fun it is to make new friends and read your choices of the alphabet! I'm really enJOYing this experience; I hope you are, too~

My whole family is on the sensitive side and we see spirits all the time. My parents live in an old house and we grew up in an equally old place. It's rather common that our conversations include who (or what) we've seen.

I do believe there are ghosts. I've never seen one before, but I know people that have. Spooky!

I can't watch those shows- I get so spooked. We used to live in a old house we remodeled in Idaho. I swear to you that house had a presence- I felt it most in the basement where I had to do laundry. I remember the day we moved from tht house- I felt the presence stronger than I ever had. I loved the house but I was happy to leave it to the ghost that lived there! I think about that presence and wished I had researhed all who had owned the home. Thats my only ghost story although I have felt other presences at different times in my life but none as strong as I did in that home in Idaho!

Great subject!
