Why I was blue....

I posted a while ago, about having a crazy craft day and my hands turning blue. My nose a bit, too. I did manage to get that off.  Can you imagine going out in public like that, lol.  I'm trying to think when did I go out in public with a rainbow effect?   The mail lady has seen me at my worst, mailing challenges to Stampington.  I think I had glitter in my hair, last time I went, which this time of year, actually looks fine.   Anyway, this is why....
I dyed tea filters with food coloring and then made a garland.  It was a gift for a sick friend; then I liked it so much I made one to submit, for an art challenge.  Now, I want to make more, but I don't want to turn blue.  I tried paint, but didn't like the effect, as much.   I enclosed tiny little sentiments to brighten her day. Tea of course, some quotes, poetry and some seeds. She wanted some from my Money plant.   I don't have the plant, my Mom does. She mailed me some seeds, this Fall.   I decided to share.  I do think a gift like this might be a bit of sunshine, for someone who is blue.

I have several ideas on how to filter some sunshine into one's world. One of my favorite is  to go to the bookstore or library.  You can come, too,  if you love n' respect the quiet mood, of sifting through time worn books.  I love the escape and allure of the written word, the feel of vintage pages. My family doesn't like to linger, as long as me. Words n' pictures are a spring board of ideas for other projects.  They plant small ideas and wonder into my world.  I leave good fortune cookie sayings in books. I also will mark a page,  I think will inspire someone else.  What about you? What brightens your mood?

I recently tucked these fortune cookie sayings in books:

A book is like a garden carried in the pocket.
Chinese Proverb

Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps the singing bird will come.

this to me is true art, amazingly beautiful.
Those tea bags are really nice! Your creativity amazes me. Maybe you should do some red ones so that if it gets on your nose, you can claim to be Rudolph.

Such a delightful idea - your colourful teabags remind me of miniature Tibetan prayer flags.

Like Kerry, the first thing I thought of was Tibetan prayer flags - so beautiful, Ellie - you have an amazing gift!!!!! I actually would like to buy a garland like this from you - are you selling? I love your idea of leaving little sayings in books to brighten a reader's day. I adore the Chinese saying about keeping a green tree in one's heart. Totally lovely.

Loved my visit this morning. Shine on, kiddo!

I like the idea of the fortune cookie sayings left in books. I don't think I've ever found anything someone's left in a book, but then again I haven't gotten that many books from the library in my life since there always has been so many at home both at my parents' house when I was young and in my houses after I went on my own.

I should go to the library more often if for no other reason than just to be out of the house and somewhere else.
