T is for Tea

I love coffee and I love tea. I guess one starts my day and the other one comforts me.  Tea is more ceremonial and reflective for me.  I dyed my fingers blue making a prayer tea flag a bit ago. I am published in Somerset Studio, May issue.  I am so pleased, with how they photographed it. Banners are tricky. I used tea filters in food coloring to create the look. When dried, I used rubber stamps to create a focal image on each filter. So many ways you could do this. I made mine thinking of the sunshine baskets, my Mom and neighbors use to make when I was little.  Little mementos in a basket or box gathered to brighten one's day.  I made mine in flag form. I included tea, seeds and poetry in my flags.

I want to thank Mindy Lacefield for brightening my world with her art class. She is a fun teacher, a wonderful creative spirit.   I found these cookies this weekend on Crescendoh and wanted to share. How sweet would these be with a box of tea to cheer a friend or neighbor.  If you make them, let me know!

I hope to soon, but I'm busy cleaning  out the attic. The tangle of memories is beautiful and sad. I'm swimming in an emotional soup, but I have to make a spot for myself, so I can move forward.
I have to give my daughter credit for the emotional soup idea. When she was little she couldn't say swimming suit. (I wrote this before I added Kristin's art and mine). She called it her swimming soup, lol.   Wish I could make you a cup of tea, but maybe I gave you time to think about your own soup.

My art is beside the talented Kristin Van Valkenburgh. She is the founder of the
blog challenge, "Summer of Color".  I took part in this challenge, last year. This is Kristin's photo...I have not received my complimentary issue, yet.   My art is called, "Spreading Sunshine Banner".  Congrats Kristen, I feel honored to be beside you~

Kristin was kind enough to send me another photo!  Thank you Kristin! <3

Congratulations, Ella. Wonderful to be published.
I haven't had coffee or cookies for two weeks, or tea for one week, due to chronic health problems. Living on yogurt and toast and water, but seeing the doctor today.
I love your "emotional soup". I might borrow it some day, but I also haven't been writing much.
So your blog post really made my day. I love your talent and enthusiasm.

I am positively thrilled for you - congratulations.
I am sure your daughter and her friends were equally excited - I am referring to your lovely letter that was published in The Stampers' Sampler :)
I hope I manage to get my hands on a copy of Somerset so I can view your art in detail.

Congrats, Ella! The flags/banners sound neat.

Spent the last week sick, so I've been drinking a lot of tea. Herbal teas can be wonderful that way.

Lovely tea banner, kiddo. I so love the "swimming soup". SOOOOoooooooo, is the attic going to be your Replacement Frog??????? Great plan!
Ella said…
Sherry-No, the attic turns into the hinges of hell by May. It is where I am storing my supplies, till he finishes redoing the FROG. Hubby want to put up bead board. I need all my stuff moved out. Swimming soup has sharks in it. I'd be okay, if I didn't have to fold myself in 1/2 to crawl through a tiny door to get in and out. I wish...

MPax-Sorry to hear that! I hope you are on the mend~ Being sick this time of year takes a lot out of you~ Sending you some sunshine :D and get well wishes!

I love tea and the memories of my Mom and neighbors making sunshine baskets. I thought why not...
I need to get busy and make some to sell. I was kind of surprised the magazine came out so early. It is the May edition.... I'm still stuck in the swimming soup, for a couple more days. I am breaking down all the cardboard and using plastic bins. Yes, think holidays too. I have lived Christmas, Halloween and Easter this week! lol
