Batman...

My son went to the Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, at midnight last night. We live in North Carolina.  I found him searching through photo albums earlier, in the evening.  I knew what he was looking for ;D   When he was four years old, he was crazy about Batman.  We had a Batman birthday party...I made masks for all the kids, there was a homemade Batman cake(Frosted yellow with the Batman symbol in the center), lots of games involving the Joker, the Penguin and Catwoman.  I gave the girls a choice, they be either Catwoman or Batman.  We had Batman Mac n 'Cheese, I made Bat styled sandwiches, and of course Bat punch. When it was time for the party to end, no one wanted to go home. We enjoyed going through the photos together and reliving the memories. He scanned a few to put on his Android phone, to show his friends.

My son Larry at age 4 yrs old.  He wore this down a slide and practically flew.  After that he wanted to be Superman, then a Power Range and then his own creation Lightning Bolt Man.  Next came Ninja and now Geek!   The Geek outfit is his best disguise, yet~

When I woke up this morning, I was sad n' horrified to hear about the news in Colorado.  I can't imagine, can you...  At first the audience must of thought this was a special effect. It being the first screening. Then the reality sinks in this is real!  The chaos and confusion of an enjoyable evening gone wrong.  A man from Virginia was there.  He is on my local news being interviewed about the horrific event.  My son said the movie was 5/5.  He was sorry to hear the news, on his ride home.   My thoughts n' prayers go out to those affected by this mad man!  I wonder did he buy a ticket go out the exit, rig the door and come back in?!  Will we have security guards at movies?   We live in a mad world...be careful out there!

It is a tragedy that one person can affect such devastation on so many lives and the well-being of a nation.

Your son was a kid after my own heart. :)

Terrible tragedy, and like you, my heart goes out the survivors and families.

The photo is so cute, Ellen! In spite of the terrible news, people can still have fun at the movies. We just refuse to allow evil folks like that man in Colorado to affect us. A nice post. These are indeed tough times.
Ella, I didn't know about this event! And your son is a cutie :)

I love that picture of your son as Batman. Awww.

The news is sad. We can't live in bubbles. There will always be crazy people. A better mental health / health system would be a great start.
One sick individual. The devil really does exist to make someone do something that horrific.

Your son is very cool. Tell him he can be a Ninja Geek - he'll never have to grow out of it.

Saw Dark Knight Rises at lunchtime. Excellent film. Just a bit too intense and dark, but the ending was beyond awesome.

All kids like Superheroes, i think; your son was a cute Batman!

This incident in Colorado makes one realize one is not safe anywhere. Who would have ever thought a mass murder would happen in a theater.

Your son was such a cutie at age four. Bet he still is! I can imagine your horror as you saw the news this morning, your son having been at a midnight showing of the same film, thankfully in a different state. The man was a student at a high level of university, and must have had a brilliant mind, to be doing such advanced studies. I suspect it must have been a psychotic break or something, the onset of mental illness/psychosis. Horrifying.
