I will share my poetry here today. I have been trying to post my writing on my other blog, Ella's Font.
For Fireblossom's Friday challenge I went with witch...
For Fireblossom's Friday challenge I went with witch...
You don't judge a book by its cover, but what about a house...
Ivy trailing, dark n' foreboding...
Incantation like the wind
casts a net
maybe you are wrong...
Witch:
Sticks and stones may
break your bones, but
I gather them
along with Earth's gifts
feathers of song birds,
crystals, river stones and herbs
I follow Moon's wisdom
and light my grill, not cauldron
ashes n' embers of smoldering rosemary n' apple wood
permeate the wind
Noisy neighbor:
Moonlight glows dimly on the Sargent home
timeworn picket fence tilted and dove gray
weeds rampant everywhere
is that Sage I smell...burning?
as I walk on...I feel a smooth brush on my calf
a black cat nudges me
I jump
do I hear a cackle or is that creaking stairs?
Witch:
Do I hear someone at my door?
Loki did you scare the neighbors again
Time to align the 3 fates and 9 muses
and brew our nettle tea
and light vanilla n' amber candles
I pick a leaf off my wishing tree and
write with blood red ink from pokeberries
Is someone there?
I go peer through my scarf curtains
Nope
I take out my salt glazed crow(pie bird)
he has sung a stormy tune
time for blackberry pie
I find my silver locket and plan my garden by the stars
and phased moonlight
tomorrow I will walk
a new path
a new path
Truth alines in the darkness
it lurks behind the moon
a map of the heart exposed in the palm
shows how the river will flow
my third eye knows to rise
above the frayed and aloof
and embrace Mother Nature's
gifts
Follow the spirit tree's path
news will come to you on a wing
remember your moon sisters
face north and wear your indigo oil
light a purity candle and wish for your
true love to appear
and if you see a toad
don't blame me
muahaha...
I did a prompt for The Sunday Mini Challenge. I invited others to write a poem using vintage, sepia photos. I love the look of these photos and wonder what their lives were like, their names, who did they love?! I wonder....
Her name was Estella....
It was written on the back of the photo...
Promised to another
her pale blue eyes and strawberry looks
wilted and her lips quivered
as the date neared to
be Mr. & Mrs. Hawkins
He an older man
burly n' proud, but
drab n' dull like dust in the wind
Her mood would lift n' flutter like a moth to flame
when it was time to meet him, her true love
dark eyes and dimples
at midnight near the majestic Oak
Her cheeks burned with thoughts of him
their finger entwined like vines
their limbs tangled enjoying the stolen hours
dizzy with their encounter under the silverly
wink of the moon
They soon would run off
be together
misty eyed she would leave him until
their next encounter
I want to give a shout out to Mary Pax her second book, in the Backworlds series is released today!
Congrats Mary...I love the title ;D You knew I would....

Thanks for mentioning Stopover. Really appreciated. You're fabulous :)
permeate the wind" ... Yum.
"I find my silver locket and plan my garden by the stars" ... I like this.
"a map of the heart exposed in the palm
shows how the river will flow
my third eye knows to rise" ... This is cool.
I really liked the story in your second poem, particularly the sweet language, like "strawberry locks," "dark eyes and dimples
at midnight near the majestic Oak," and "the silverly
wink of the moon." I also liked your description of the boring old guy she was supposed to marry. :)
4 child with book senryu
I gather them

"Sticks and stones may break your bones, but I gather them" — I wasn't sure if you meant the sticks and stones, or the bones, finally decided on all three.
And Estella does look like she's about to marry the older man, and isn't thrilled about it.
Great stuff, Ella.
