A Writer's Life

I was visiting a Pocketful of Playdough ; Brianna is doing a Writer's Challenge. She purchased a book
How I Write: Secrets of a Bestselling Writer,  by Janet Evanovich. The book reveals a peek on what is on this writer's desk.
a Winnie the Pooh clock, a statue of an angry Donald Duck, a Little Lulu bank, a couple diecast cars (I make them go vroom vroom vroom when I’m bored), pens, and Magic Markers, a yellow pad (for catching stray ideas), a phone with cordless headset, and an iPod filled with happy energetic music (How I Write, p. 196).
She was curious about how others write. What’s their day like? What’s their process? What are their essential tools?  She created this Q n' A to reveal more about ourselves, our process. It is fun...
Here’s how it works:
1. Type your answer to each of the questions below into Flickr Creative Commons Search.
2. Pick one image to represent your answer.
3. Copy and paste each of the URLs for the images into Big Huge Lab’s Mosaic Maker to create a mosaic of the picture answers. (3 columns, 4 rows)
4. Save.
5. Post the mosaic (with the photo credits provided by the Mosaic Maker) to your blog to share with readers and fellow campaigners or ninjas!
6. Leave a comment here so I can check it out!
The questions:
  1. Where do you write?
  2. What time of day do you write?
  3. What do you snack on when writing?
  4. What do you drink when writing?
  5. What do you do to overcome writer’s block?
  6. What office supply is your best/favorite/most useful tool?
  7. What book do you read for inspiration and/or procrastination?(Simple Abundance)
  8. What music/song do you listen to for inspiration?
  9. What television show/movie do you watch for inspiration and/or procrastination?(Unique Sweets)
  10. What writer inspires you?(Stephen King)
  11. What genre do you write?(poetry, but want to do YA)
  12. What celebrity would you say your main character resembles?(Mary Louise Parker)
If you don’t want to make a mosaic, you can just answer the questions or share images in whatever way you wish!

I'm dropping over from the BBQ!

Already posted my blog for the day, so I'll just give a few answers here!

I write in my grandfather's old recliner in my sunroom. I work the best at night, but I'll write whenever I have the time. My favorite writing snacks are pickles and white chocolate, but not together! Usually just plugging away helps me to overcome writer's block- to just keep going even if I think I can't!
Interesting! I will go and have a nose around.

Glad your DH is OK by the way. Bears ears? Mm, not sure.
Very interesting will take a look later.

Hi, dropping over from Karen's BBQ.

Interesting idea with the mosaic. Will have a proper look when I have more than two minutes computer time!

I love reading Janet Evanovich's books. I just don't like to write much myself. I love to make visual art, but I leave the writing to my husband.
Thanks for the link and shout out to my BBQ. Still one day to get in on the action!

I never write at a desk, but in a chair or sofa with the laptop or a notebook. I usually don't eat while writing (don't want to get crumbs on my keyboard) but I drink either diet Coke, water or flavored water. Don't listen to music but if it's nice outside I open the window. Birds chirping is all the music I need LOL. My MC Marcie McGill would be played by Reese Witherspoon and her sister Cindy would be Scarlett Johansen.

That was kind of fun!
Very, very cool!! Love it. =D
what a neat idea! Love your pics!

Great answers Ella and cool pics to match! Thank you for taking part in the fun!

I also find morning is the best time to write for me.

By the way, I love your blog header and background! Sunflowers are so pretty!

Hi Brianna-I really enjoyed this game!
Thank you; I spied these beauties heading to the corner store. I had to run back home and grab my camera~ :D
I have written at night, but mornings tend to be quieter and then there is coffee ;D My muse loves iced coffee or iced tea~

Creepy Query Girl-Thank you; It was fun. When time permits you should try it~ :D

Hi Rashelle-Thank you; I'm excited about your new book! Congrats~

KarenG-Thanks, I have enjoyed your event, the food is amazing ;D
I don't eat when I write, either. I do take a break for popcorn and then come back and write, so more. I find morning works because the house is quiet, lol. How is your son doing? My nephew the Marine ended up in Japan. Great MC and sister...

Janelle-I'm torn; I like both. My family would prefer if I wrote. I make a big mess making art, but I love it, too :D

Jules-I find mornings or late evenings work for me. When the muse strikes, I'm open to any time of day! Yes, spike away ;D

Hi Liza-Thank you; he is stubborn and tough. He seems to be doing fine~ Nice to meet you~

Mama J-I have been there; funny that is my Mom's nickname with my hubby! Mom is that you? lol

Hi Yvonne-I will be by; happy you attended this event!

Hi Glynis...I know odd right! The argument is it is a squirrel in bottom pic. Looks more like a strange bird to me. Nice to meet you~

Colby-Wow,your food picks are fascinating. I am relieved you don't eat them together ;D Nice to meet you~

What a fabulous idea! I must set some time aside to do this. Thank you for sharing Stephen King's house with us.
Hi Ella .. thanks to Brianna for this .. I loved your mosaic and the idea of it - thanks for posting the detail ..

Interesting to know about - great .. thanks - Hilary
You read Stephen King? I already like you. :)

Hi Kelley ;D Thank you~

Delia-I was dared to go to that house on Halloween. I'm from Maine; my Math teacher in Junior High was Stephen King's cousin. ;D

Hilary-It was fun to do! I hope you had a great holiday~

Ellie-I would love to see your picks! I might do another one some time. It was fun~

Lee-Thank you; follow the link it explains it. It is fun to see one's answers in a visual format~

Hi Liz-Yes, I enjoyed chatting with you ;D
Oh wow, I had no idea the world was that small! How did you like the house? Did it look really creepy on Halloween? And his cousin was your Math teacher... As much as I hate Math, I would have done extra classes for an autographed book from Mr King! :)

Hi Delia-I grew up 30 mls from Bangor, ME. I was going to college in the area and it was a foggy Halloween college dare. It was scary, as it should be ;D It was funny, my Math class in junior high asked our teacher, Mr. King if they were related and he said "Yes". The other odd thing is his wife is cousins with Stephen's wife, Tabitha. It is a small, strange world! :D
