Insecure Writer's Group

Yes, it is the first Wednesday of the month and time for our Insecure Writer's Group.  Go visit and make some new friends. Alex is a great host and you will discover you aren't alone.

It seems like someone is trying to suck the air out of my lungs lately and it is affecting my voice. I was thrilled to turn the calendar to November. October is a month of magic and fun, usually one of my favorite times of the year, not this year.  A lot happened in October; it has made me feel less confident. I had two articles in the works and then poof gone.  One contact via email and one via letter. I complied and nothing happened.  There were words like Congrats mentioned in both and then no update. I am new to this gig, but was kind of stunned.   I had  gotten the impression, when I was at this point, it was highly likely to happen.  It isn't a sure thing, till you see yourself in print. This is what happens when we get into new situations. We don't know what to expect. It rattled me a bit, but it is always good to know both sides of the coin.  I guess this is part of the process, lesson learned.  Try, try again!  What lesson or lessons have you learned along the way?

Sometimes when you don't hear anything, it's not a rejection -it may just take longer to get back to you, but I can't say for sure not knowing the circumstances. However, I've been in the situation where I thought I made it, but was cut from the final book and it's devastating! But like they say, time heals all wounds and the most important thing is to not give up and keep writing!

Brianna-Hi, how are you? I will stop by and find out ;D
I am sorry to hear that! I know I was dropped. I would of appreciated an email that said, we will consider you again in the future, but we chose someone else. The other incident is in print, done. So I know... Yes it is important to move forward; you are so right! :D

A huge lesson I learned is that even when you think your writing is great and everyone will fall in love with your story right away, get it edited. It probably sucks.

Congratulations on that new cover on the side!!!Whooo-hooo!! I know there have been disappointments, but I just know November is going to be a better month. I think you're right, it's good to know both sides...failure and success, and you can take lessons from both, sometimes hard ones.
I guess the lesson I've been learning is that sometimes, my best may not be good enough for some, but if I did the best I can, I can lay my head down on my pillow with confidence.
Congrats again on the winter issue!! :)

So sorry to hear you had a rough month and also about what happened with the two articles. I hope this month and the year to come prove to be much better and filled with tons of publication possibilities.

Take care, Ella.

Hi, Ella! Yes, it's tough some days, I agree. But, we have to keep on, keeping on! Just keep tapping those keys and submitting.

I've learned never give up. Keep writing & keep submitting your very best work. :)

Don't let them shake you, Ella. Keep at it.

I learned to quit obsessing over haters. Not everyone is going to get us. Not everyone is going to love us. We have to let those folks go. Some people will love us, and they're the ones who matter.
It can be frustrating, can't it. I like your attitude, though--Try, try again! If we don't keep trying, then we won't succeed.

I can't thank you all enough!
I'm living life backwards~ My first submission was published, art and article. So, I needed this reality check! I didn't want it, but I needed it, lol

Lynda-Yes, it is our journey if we stop than we will never know, what if?! Thank you~

MPax-Thank you; it does rattle you to be given false hope. You are so right, but there are plenty who will! Thank you~

Candy Fite-Yes, that is the best way to go at it! I just need to get back at it and submit some more! Thanks~

Jamie Burch-Thank you; you are sweet~ I will keep at it ;D

Scarlett-Thank you; yes, we have to look in the mirror and know we gave it our all! :D

Clarissa-Thank you for the reality check; I needed that :D

Karen-I have tried not to expect anything, so I would genuinely pleased. It was hearing the word Congrats regarding both articles that confused me. I guess that is part of the process...things can change! Thank you, wise words!
