Moonflowers by ~TKethry



J post is below for those of  you visiting the A-Z blogging challenge.

I was inspired to work on a continuation poem over at the garden.  Grace calls it our way to loosen up.
Everyone is to contribute a stanza in different forms.  We are joining together, to make an enormous renga. The renga is a long Japanese poem, a series of very short verses in an alternating pattern, built by a group. There are links and references scattered within the greater poem, and each verse is related without being repetitive.

 I added the  4th stanza two lines of 7 syllables.

I will post the whole poem, when it is done..
I have to hurry before someone else adds this stanza then I will have to write a haiku.


showgirls will perform a dance
inspir'd by moonlight's embrace



(I'm thinking Moonflowers here; I just bought some to plant they are the cousins to Morning Glories).  Morning glories salute the sun; Moon flowers bloom for the moonlight.

Nice shift away from literal flowers here. Inspired can be read as three syllables, though, so if you put an elision in, like "inspir'd," people will know to cram it into two. You know, bean-counters, like me. :)

Mary-How special that would be! They open from evening to the following noon. They do have beautiful Morning Glories with unique names: Pink Star and there is a Celestial Mix...gorgeous shades of blue and white. Keep me posted if you give this a try! I love it~ :D

hello, my friend, Ella! My brother, Hugh, and his wife had moonflowers which were so beautiful when they bloomed. I have a flower that I think is a trumpet flower that blooms at around midnight and then the blossom is wilted in early afternoon. Each bloom is only open for about twelve or so hours. They are shaped like the morning glory and are white trimmed in purple. Best regards to you. Ruby

I've never seen these beautiful flowers, so lovely. The idea of the 'renga' peom is so cool, love your lines..I picture girls dancing with the moon flowers on their dresses and in their hair.
