Scary Joy

Halloween has a kick to it, for me.  No really-the last home football game is tonight.  It was suppose to be Friday, but due to rain-it was cancelled.  The Seniors and their parents will go out on the field. Yes, I have to dress up and march-it reminds me of a Halloween parade I was in years ago.  I am kind of sad-I love handing out candy.  Our neighbors took the day off from work and are busy creating a special look for their party!  The dry ice works-I will share photos tomorrow.

I want to show you some unique sites I found to put you in a hallowed mood...

First up your treat-I made this Butternut Squash soup earlier this week.  A huge hit at my home.   It is not my recipe-you can find it here.   Do not add the cream until you have finished all the steps.  It is the last thing to add and then leave on to simmer.  It is amazing like a warm hug with a bit of spice~  My family loved it so much-everyone came home with a butternut squash.

Dessert you say-check this out!   I am baking cookies now, but if you want to eat your heart out-this is the place!

Miss Cakehead has Maggot Extracted Cupcakes for those of you, who like to play with your food!

My son showed me  videos this week ......WARNING some of these have language and sexual references-so if you are sensitive-you may not want to watch.  I picked the mild n' timid ones.   The Mantis Shrimp is one scary clown, the owl shares a fractured fairytale and the Tarsier is freaky.

I hope your Halloween is filled with sweet treats, a bit of humor and just a little scare.

Be safe!

Dirty science - funny! Now I would watch nature specials like that.
Sorry you don't get to hand out candy, but have fun at the game anyway.

Alex-I know right! This guy is a hoot~ I am leaving my cauldron outside filled with candy! I will be home until the game starts-so I will get most of the trick or treaters. Off to bake and clean my broom- ;D Go watch the Mole rat
I hear he is a super hero~

Oh, man--those cupcakes are so disgusting! (and probably a huge hit). My cousin bought some little candy eyeballs to decorate cupcakes for her son's class, then just used regular frosting to make smiles or frowns... the line of three eyeballs, or strange relationship of eyes to mouth made them cuter than cute! (and pretty easy, as it is just stick some candies on and do a couple lines)

Such a fun and sickening tribute to the day - still can't figure out how butternut squash figures in all that. Except maybe as a way to forget those picture of sick, sick food! UGH!

Love handing out the candy - do you dress up for that too? What's your costume this year - photos?

You get the prize for the best trick and treat today!

Happy Halloween!

The videos are funny!

Dry ice is so cool. We used it in a haunted house a group of us put together in Arkansas. Very effective fog.

Will we see photos of you dressed for the parade? The soup sounds wonderful - the baked things look scary - and you could not pay me to eat the maggot cupcake - even tho I know it's not real!

Margaret-I know cute and threatening!

Grace-The soup is amazing! My family loves it~ It has rosemary and some heat from white pepper and a splash of hot sauce~

Sherry-Sorry no! I was on the field dressed as a proud parent. They passed out white roses-it was hard not to tear up~ I did take photos at my neighbor's party-they are fun. I always dress up, but not this year. I dropped by after the football event-a bit late!

L.Diane-Oh, I bet you had so much fun~ I have always wanted to have a haunted house! How fab...
