Everyday Simple Pleasures

Sleep deprivation, too much caffeine and stress have me feeling like a bundle of nerves.   So, for awhile I am going to post bright spots in my day.  They might not look bright to some, but these simple pleasures enable me to  cope with the storms in my life. We all have them-when it seems there is too much  rain and fog permeates our soul.   So, I am going to fight will photos, quotes and random streams of consciousness.   I am not depressed, the storms which circle me are from friends and family-I love.

One person, I love is having a bone marrow test-today, another is struggling with addiction, and so on.   I have empathetic tendencies and their energy drains me.  I know in the dark moments of life we still have to find bright spots in our day.  I want to blog a bit of light, something that could make another person calm and remind them to seek joy in their day.

"The astonishing reality of things
Is my discovery each day.
Each thing is what it is,
And it's hard to explain to someone how happy this makes me
and how much this suffices me."

- Fernando Pessoa

Colored pencils remind me I can color my rainbow.  I must search for the pot of gold in each day~   I can color the forest, the seashore or a sunset and wander through a happy memory.

I love to force bulbs.  They inspire hope.  We are like the green stalks and leaves-reaching our arms towards our day searching for illumination.

I save tea tags and glancing at these roses remind me-I must focus on the rose, not the thorns.

I once had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall. Eleanor Roosevelt

I'm sorry! I tend to have empathetic tendencies as well.
Find your joyful spots wherever you can Ella.
And that last quote is hilarious.

I hope those you love find their peace, too.

I agree. There is so much in life that can burden us. Sometimes we need to lay down those burdens in order to experience the gift of life. The burdens will be there after we've dreamed awhile and they won't seem quite as heavy when our mind is in the right place.

We do indeed have to find our own joys. They aren't automatic.
It is so tough to helplessly watch those we care about suffer. Eleanor Roosevelt was a lady that was cool before people knew what the word meant.

It is a good thing to find those bright spots in the day. I imagine Miss Maggie brings you many of them, and makes you laugh out loud often, as all puppies do. Take care of yourself, too, Ellie, in all the taking care of others.

Distractions along the way can lead one astray many a time. To be aware and recover and make amends in time will be precious!

Hi Alex, I suspected you did, as well. You have a soft spot for so many~ When time allows I want to do, be and share more. Thank you-you, too! I had to go there-I have my father's humor. It has saved my sanity-many times.

Hi L. Diane-Thank you! I hope so, too.

Hello Lee-Yes, so true. I agree our mind needs a time out~ Well said!

Hi Mary Ann-Yes, we have to make time sometimes to find joy.

Hello Susan-It is hard and we do feel helpless. I am trying to send them cheer and help when I can. Yes, Eleanor was a rig and ahead of her time~

Hi Sherry-Miss Maggie is full of sunshine. I am going to get her trained as a Service Dog and take her to add love and light to others. She is so, happy to meet n' greet people~ Thank you, Sherry-you, too!

Hi Hank-Yes, make amends and recover what we can-yes, that is sage wisdom! Thank you~

Hello Bhavikk Shah-Thank you, I hope you have a wonderful week and find sunshine in each day~

I love the way you look at things!

I'm empathetic too, very burdensome, but I wouldn't want to be the opposite.

Thank you for your wonderful well wishes and the soup. I am trying to get better, we're going to the beach next weekend! I so need that!

Spring is almost here and I'm thrilled! Well, as soon as this snow fall melts! :)

Hi Yolanda! Yes, I agree~ You will be better and the sand, surf and ocean air will lift your spirits~ I miss the beach, too.

Cheers, to spring! I have seen a few signs, except this morning when the ground was frosted and crunchy~ The thaw has slowly begun!

Ella I love this post! You have such a BIG heart and I think that makes you carry a heavier load sometimes, but it also makes you have the vision to see the beauty of the day. Thank you for sharing your pain and beauty with us Ella! :-)

Such a great reminder that we have the ability to choose the hues we see and paint with in our day. Wishing you a bright and beautiful week, Ella.
Hi friend, this post is one of your best! It's been a hard 2016 so far but you've inspired me to look for the silver lining in everything.

Love to you and congrats on your little Magpie, she's so cute!
