Over in the Garden

Today in the Garden, Kerry challenged us to write an open letter and turn it into a poem.  I had many ideas, but this one kept nagging at me.    I thought I would share my letter first. I think it explains my poem :D

Dear World,

Did you hear, Mother Nature has gone gaga over a Toad.  He is from Houston, Texas.
I guess his name is Sander.  The word is he's her lucky charm.  I heard he is a few cards short of a deck, lol.  What a guy!

I guess she is addicted to gambling...  Did you suspect?   I guess it is Black Jack. No, not Jack Black, tee, hee.   I heard she is tossing Bleeding Hearts .  Have you seen the size of those Spades?!    They like to drink n' play Gin n' Rummy.   I am not one to gossip...  I know you are thinking, what is the big deal?!   Well, she is gambling on our weather!   Didn't you think it was odd the whole 52 weeks in a year and 52 cards in a deck?  And 4 suits=4 seasons.   I know she holds all the Aces-it is sick!   And let's not forget the Joker we get every March, in like a lion out like a lamb?!   Yeah, guess where Stephanie Meyer got that idea!    Yeah, March and April all about the Ides and a Fool.

And did you ever wonder about the #21?!   I mean there are many clues, our seasons tend to be announced on that day.   Yeah, her favorite number and game!  All these signs and we were clueless.  Yes, the first day of a new season and she n' Sander are off.   I just wish she would be above board.   Maybe she will be kind and pull an ace up her sleeve.  We might get lucky and get a sunny day!   Let's hope she is careful with those  wild cards.  Maybe, just maybe we might get lucky in spades.   So, far her house of cards has been dreadful.    I just wanna warn you-I think she is wearing her Poker Face.

Eco Ella

my poem:

Bleeding hearts
follow suit
wild cards marching in
 on the Ides
charmed green velvet clubs n' spades
surface above boards
Magic act too soon
April's Fool shows up to juggle
Lambs Ear bit
by Jack Frost
Mother Nature's
we gamble
do what suits us
She in turn might toss
us  a
 Wild card
It is time to kiss
the Blarney Stone and a few Toads!

Calendar Girl

It turns out I will do the ART WALK in April!  I am happy, since I have an article coming out-so it will tie in nicely!  I'm doing my Snoopy dance, lol!  Wish I could have all of you over for a party! :D

Back to the glitter, moss and Queen of Hearts costume.  Here is a peek...I know I promised lettuce...later this week, lol!

It is going on a cute black dress!  I wish we could go more glam, but it is for a twirling flag, jump and prance dance-Yes, back to the Snoopy dance.  I need to sew on a few more roses and attach the red necktie($1 @ the thrift shop)-it has Lions on it-like a royal coat of arms!   She said, she doesn't want a lot of things moving, so I will have to sew and Velcro stuff down.   She kinda freaked on me a bit, when I painted her Rhinestone bracelet!  The Queen had the white roses painted  RED!  White roses were accidentally planted instead and they didn't want to lose their heads, so they(the help) painted the roses red!   (She didn't freak out, when she found out why).

Back to the dreaded chore, oh, snore of cleaning up my mess!

I was penciled in to do the Art Walk-for March, at one of the local businesses.  It wasn't a for sure thing.  The clerk said, I will pencil you in, but someone else may already be selected.  The store owner will contact you.  I have been sick and haven't made as much as I hoped for.   So, I am gearing up for a show, I may or may not be in.  Store owner said, she would try to find another artist,  and I could do April.   I  said, to be fair,  "If you can't find anyone,  I will do March."   She also has been sick.    I will be missing in artion, for a bit~   I think my biggest problem is trying, to define my style as an artist.   I am all over the place.   I guess there is a book that can help those of us out-so I have been told.   I was thinking of going green, Eco-Ella and still might, but for now I need to stick with what I have, in regards to supply.

I just previewed this book on my Kindle...I think I might have to dig further to reclaim my true nature!  I know I am wacked!

I will be back to share with you, the lettuce container gift wrap!  I have done one plastic gift, but would like to attempt another one, before I share.  Here is a peek!

I'm laughing...this one looks like I'm being attacked. Yes, those are my fingers trying to hold up a wet plastic lid....(outtakes are funny or horrifying, according to your view)!

Ok, honestly it came out alright, but I can do better! This is why you will see not one, but two attempts~   I'll share next week, then disappear into my FROG and come back covered in glue, or glitter, or maybe moss!   Moss fingerprints or maybe Moss fingernails-my daughter already shakes her head at me.  I painted my thumbs with green nail polish.  "Why only your thumbs?"  she smacked.

"Because I am a green thumbed poet"  I laughed. I'm going to go glue on moss just to freak her out!

Have You Heard...

"Hey, have you heard about Alex?   You know the Ninja Captain has a big reveal today!  Hello, anybody home?!"   I thought when I talked everyone would listen?!  I could sing Tiny Bubbles...?

"No, what about Alex?"   She loves me, she loves me not, she loves me!

I  know spring fever...I love my anchor!

" I'm listening Dante, what is up with Alex?"  Sssh, don't tell... this is my house, my couch, my pillows.  I just let the humans think it is theirs! lol

"The cover of Alex's new book CassaStorm is being revealed...check it out! Doesn't it look fab!"    I do wish he would write about the sea, though.  I wish someone would toss me a Scooby snack.

 CassaStorm by Alex J. Cavanaugh

A storm gathers across the galaxy…

Byron thought he’d put the days of battle behind him. Commanding the Cassan base on Tgren, his only struggles are occasional rogue pirate raids and endless government bureaucracies. As a galaxy-wide war encroaches upon the desert planet, Byron’s ideal life is threatened and he’s caught between the Tgrens and the Cassans.

After enemy ships attack the desert planet, Byron discovers another battle within his own family. The declaration of war between all ten races triggers nightmares in his son, shaking Bassan to the core and threatening to destroy the boy’s mind.

Meanwhile the ancient alien ship is transmitting a code that might signal the end of all life in the galaxy. And the mysterious probe that almost destroyed Tgren twenty years ago could be on its way back. As his world begins to crumble, Byron suspects a connection. The storm is about to break, and Byron is caught in the middle…

Spring's Fragile Kiss

Lipid landscape
melts in quicksilver dreams
white birches flirt with the wind
planting spring's fragile kiss
 tender wisps of papery hope
outline feathers' dance

Sun jeweled memories poke through the white sieve
Wisps of tucked green stars lean
their whispers of tortum

An angel
trumpets the news
party dresses of satin and buttery velvet
with sunny petticoats
will be the first to arrive.

Other guest wait, for their invitation.
Soon all will dance in wind's waltz
vibrant ruffled gowns will turn heads as
golden curls twirl

large sunny cups wait for ceremonial high tea
Madame de la Sabliere  is jealous
the Ice Follies have come to town

Puff the Magic...Cream Puff

What to conjure up?  Should I make those Cream Puffs?!   Vanilla n' coffee beans whispered, "yes do it"-so I did!

Honey Bear watched me, till the kids made use of him in their Gunpowder Green Tea.

HINT:  Try  to remember to take the eggs out ahead and let them set at room  temperature.

You will need 4 eggs! This recipe is a work out for your bicep!  It is nice to have help, by the time you get to the 3rd egg-you will feel whipped!  You'll see...

YOU will need (I already mentioned 4 eggs), 1/2 cup of butter=1 stick, regular not unsalted, 1/4 tsp salt, I couldn't find my 1/4 teaspoon to measure, 1 cup of All-Purpose flour and l cup of water.   * I used 1/8 tsp salt.  PREHEAT your oven to 400 degrees F.

In medium saucepan combine butter and l cup water, add 1/8 tsp salt.  Bring water to boiling.  Once it is boiling you will add the 1 cup flour, all it once.  Dump it in and stir vigorously with a wooden spoon!  Whip it good-you can whip it into shape! lol Cook and stir till mixture forms a ball, that doesn't separate(clumps easy, is what it means, of course it could separate-it isn't glue-but almost).

Remove from heat and let set for 10 minutes.  Now, add your eggs, ONE AT A TIME, beat well, with wooden spoon, after each addition you might start cussing! YOUR arm is going to hurt!  I can hear!   Beat well, until smooth and all 4 eggs have been added.

Drop batter by heaping tablespoon, 3" apart onto a greased cookie sheet.  Bake in your oven 400 degrees for 25-35minutes.  Puffy n' golden is what you want them to look like!
Cool on wire rack and now prepare your Vanilla pudding, for the filling.   I start to set out my ingredients and then  go split the puffs open to cool a bit. YOU will want to remove some of the filling, later on.

Okay, here is where you can be creative~  YOU can cheat, like me and use an Instant Vanilla Pudding. I made the sugar free variety, to make it more decadent, I added some Vanilla Beans.  Slice the side of the bean with a knife and scoop out a bit of the tiny beans.  A little goes a long way.  I used low fat milk and a bit of cream to make my pudding and added the beans.  Just follow the direction on your package of pudding.   I also made a cooked Vanilla Pudding(with sugar) for the rest of my family.   HERE is the RECIPE.
*I used regular milk-use what you normal would!

*YOU can get creative and  add a few tablespoons of Coffee Brandy or Orange Liqueur-or make Chocolate pudding.  Whatever you like :D

After I set out ingredients, for the pudding, I scraped out some of the inside of the puffs. It has a odd eggy texture.  You want the puffs to be like a shell.   Chill your pudding and once set, you will fill each puff.  My hound tends to dance around my feet when I bake, so of course I spilled pudding on him, but he didn't mind.

For the topping, I added Sugar Free Hot Fudge Sauce and for my family I used Magic Shell.  YOU might want to chill the puffs first and only add the chocolate, when you serve the dessert!   YOU will be rewarded with praise and kisses-then leave the house and  make them clean the mess!   Quick make your escape...
Yeah, I was laughing... my son smeared pudding on my face and ran.  I'll get him!

My First Love-lol

Kim at Poets United asked us to write a poem about the word, Committed.   Yes, I thought about relationships, Valentine's, family, and love.   Then I remembered my first love, Crayons.  Yes, those bright, vibrant tools of imagination, tucked in a box.   I can remember getting my first box of 96 and how I took care of them, after each use.  Now the box comes in 120 colors!     Do you have a favorite color?

I also loved their names.  For example:   Sunglow, Wide Blue Wonder, Sea Green, Mango Tango,  Inch Worm, Purple Mountain's Majesty and Timberwolf.   I laughed,  when my son received his first set.  They had renamed some of them, "Let's color with Macaroni n' Cheese and Wild Watermelon."  My daughter was all about pink, Tickled Pink.  She told me when she grew up, she was dying her hair that color.  She was a Barbie girl and three years old, at the time.  Her favorite color now is her birthstone-Aquarmarine.

Spring Green, Cotton Candy and Robin's Egg Blue
redraw my lines
muse wakes as
silvery webs cascade,  fairy dust is sprinkled
and the colors of the melting sky
tickle her.
The wind
tells her
it is time to play
at last...

She dances among the trees
outlined with stardust
as the nightlight Moon
pats her head.
Sometimes Morning Glory will
wake her and she will run out the door
to snap a Cardinal, a Daffodil or a spider web
with her box of light
she can play with shadows.

She hears words like crazy, odd, weird,
buzz by her
she use to care...
Now, she laughs
knowing her secret-holds magic
too bad some do not see
beyond the ordinary

Who is weird?
the ones that dance in a sea
of green imagination or those
who lock their dreams in a
gray box
tis sad they have lost
the key!
